What We Do

Humanist Explorer is a social group for humanists and like-minded individuals in the Omaha area. Our goal is to create space to connect, learn, and give back to the community. Whether it’s through social events, educational discussions, or community service projects, we strive to promote humanist values and create a welcoming environment for everyone.

Humanist Game Night

Expand your social circle or play some tabletop games with old friends at Humanist Game Night. Generally, we get together at Spielbound for a few hours of gaming. Spielbound has a vast library of games accessible by purchasing a Day Pass, or you can bring your own. For Magic the Gathering players, we’ve got spellcasters of every level in our group – from decades-old pro to newbie – so bring your most powerful deck…

Through the Lens

As humanists, we’re interested in promoting human well-being and flourishing through evidence-based and scientific approaches. As a community, our members have a richness of experiences and perspectives that can help us think and grow, both individually and as a humanist community. Through the Lens creates space for us to explore interesting topics through the lens of humanism. During this facilitated conversation, we draw upon the diversity of knowledge, experiences, and perspectives that our members have to gain a deeper understanding of the world.

Pints! For Humanity!

Who said solving the problems of the world was hard? All it takes is a group of highly rational individuals and a few pints to fix all that ails humanity. Join us for a meeting of the minds at the humanist happy hour! This monthly event rotates around the Omaha metro area and generally happens during the last week of the month. It’s a great opportunity to meet fellow humanists and other secular-minded individuals.

Exploration Series

The Exploration Series is our flagship event focused on collective learning and co-creating meaning so that we can grow as individuals and as a humanist community. An Exploration Series is generally made up of three to five sessions, or “explorations.” During an exploration, facilitators provide background information on the topic and then lead a guided discussion that encourages participants to share their experiences and engage in dialogue to gain a deeper understanding.
