Humanist Book Club

September 17, 2023 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Free

Join the Omaha Metro Area Humanist Association (OMAHA) for Secular Book Club. We are continuing our read of The Black Swan: The Impact of the Highly Improbable (Second Edition) by Nassim Nicholas Taleb. Each week, the group decides how much further in the book we’ll read, so check back here to see what the upcoming chapters are.

How to find us:

We are in the party room, toward the back of the establishment, near the bar.

New to Secular Book Club? Let us quickly introduce ourselves:

Secular Book Club has been around for almost a decade. Our members come from varied walks of life, each bringing their own unique experiences and insights to our discussions. This diversity, enriches our meetings, making every gathering a blend of fresh perspectives and collective wisdom.

We begin with lunch at 12:30 PM at The RTG on Center, a fun neighborhood bar where Google reviewers rave about the quality of the food. As lunch wraps up, we have a light check-in segment—a moment for everyone to share a positive highlight from their week. It’s a subtle way to connect and set the tone for the deeper discussions ahead. While the book of the month guides our core conversation, it’s not unusual for current events, local news, and personal experiences to add rich layers to our discourse.

Books on Our To-Read List:

  • The Big Myth: How American Business Taught Us to Loathe Government and Love the Free Market
